Monday, January 04, 2010

To be precise, here is the exact definition of the term 'Global Warming', taken from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
"Main Entry: global warm·ing
Pronunciation: \-ˈwȯr-miŋ\
Function: noun
Date: 1969
: an increase in the earth's atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an increase in the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution"
Global Warming can be described as the process of the Earth's temperatures continuously increasing. With each passing decade, we are uncovering more evidence that shows that a global increase in temperatures is occurring with each passing moment. Within the past 100 years alone, temperatures have increased over 1ºF worldwide. Years of long studies and observations show that this trend is continuing, but at even a faster pace.
This worldwide temperature increase can be very damaging. A warmer Earth may lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide range of impacts on plants, wildlife, and humans. From what studies have shown, humans are the main cause of global warming.
